Ingredients:
4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
450g sausage, (beef or pork) sliced
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
240ml cream
240ml chicken broth
100g shredded cheese
Salt & pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)
METHOD:
Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Cook the sausage: In a large pan over medium heat and cook until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Sauté the onion and garlic: In the same pan, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent.
Prepare the sauce:
Add the cream and chicken broth to the pan. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Top with half of the cooked sausage and half of the shredded cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, sausage, and cheese.
Pour the sauce (the cream and broth mixture) over the layered ingredients in the baking dish.
Bake:
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 mins. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 mins, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
