Ingredients:
4 slices of bread, thick cut
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp sugar (optional)
Butter or oil for cooking
Icing sugar and maple syrup (optional) for serving
1 cup blueberries, for serving
1 cup strawberries, for serving
METHOD:
Prepare the bread: Cut each slice of bread into 3-4 sticks.
Make the Batter: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar (if using).
Dip each bread stick into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
Cook the Sticks: Heat a pan over medium heat and add butter or oil. Cook the bread sticks for 2-3 mins on each side, or until golden brown.
Serve the French toast sticks warm with a dusting of icing sugar and maple syrup (optional) and berries.
