Cheese & Onion Scones

Ingredients:
2 cups plain flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
1 cup grated cheese
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
3/4 cup milk
METHOD:
Preheat your oven to 220°C and grease and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
Cut in the butter and add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the grated cheese and chopped onions.
Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Shape and turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times. Pat it into a circle about 2.54cm (1 inch) thick.
Use a round cutter or a knife to cut the dough into 8 wedges or rounds.
Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 mins, or until golden brown. Serve hot with butter.
