Ingredients: -
500g plums, de-stoned, roughly chopped
500g apples, peeled, cored, and diced
2 medium onions, finely chopped
½ cup prunes or dates, pitted, chopped
1 cup brown sugar, pack firmly
1 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp chili flakes
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp salt
METHOD: -
Put all the ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to the boil, then lower the temp and gently simmer for 2-2½ hours or until thickened and reduced in volume.
Pour into hot sterilised jars and cover with lids while hot. Leave for 3 weeks before eating as the flavours develop with time. Delicious condiment for meals, sandwiches etc
